U.S. Secret Service officers shot a man early Sunday after he brandished a firearm near the White House.

Secret Service Involved in Shooting Near White House

On Sunday morning, U.S. Secret Service officers engaged in a confrontation with an armed man near the White House at the intersection of 17th Street and F Street Northwest. The man, who was reported to be possibly suicidal, brandished a firearm leading to Secret Service personnel firing shots. The man was subsequently taken to a hospital, and no Secret Service officers were injured. Authorities had been alerted to a potential threat prior to the incident.
