New Delhi – In a significant move to bolster India’s burgeoning startup ecosystem, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, has announced the establishment of a dedicated Startup India Desk. This initiative, coupled with the approval of a ₹10,000 crore second Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS), aims to provide comprehensive support to budding entrepreneurs nationwide.

The Startup India Desk will function as a central helpline, offering crucial guidance and assistance to startups navigating the complexities of business operations. This initiative was announced at the Startup Maha Kumbh event. Key aspects of this desk include:

  • Accessible Support:
    • The desk will be accessible through a simple four-digit toll-free number, with services offered in regional languages.
    • This aims to break down language barriers and ensure that entrepreneurs from all corners of India can access vital support.
  • Comprehensive Assistance:
    • The desk will address queries related to registration, compliance, funding, mentorship, and government schemes.
    • It will also serve as a platform for startups to voice concerns, suggest improvements, and report any challenges they encounter.
  • Fund Of Funds:
    • Along with the help desk, the second Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS) with a corpus of ₹10,000 crore, has been approved.
    • A significant portion of this fund will be allocated to seed funding for early-stage startups and to support deep-tech innovation.
    • The fund will focus on sectors like AI, robotics, quantum computing, and biotech.

“Through this fund, we aim to foster the development of cutting-edge technologies,” stated Minister Goyal. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for startups by simplifying regulations and promoting ease of doing business.

This dual initiative reflects the government’s dedication to nurturing a self-reliant and forward-looking startup ecosystem, where young innovators have equal access to resources and opportunities.
